BiotiQuest was born from a deeply personal mission. When founder Martha Carlin's husband John was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease at just 44, she refused to accept that nothing could be done. She assembled a team of cutting-edge microbiome scientists to form The BioCollective, a research company dedicated to understanding the gut microbiome and its connection to human health.
Over the next decade, The BioCollective collected thousands of whole stool samples and performed full genomic analysis, producing some of the first detailed maps of the human microbiome and connecting specific microbes to aspects of health and disease. Martha and her colleagues used these findings to develop the proprietary BioFlux computational model, which drove the creation of BiotiQuest's first probiotic formulation: Sugar Shift. Originally designed to address her husband's Parkinson's symptoms, Sugar Shift's impact on a broader audience made the path forward clear - pivot from research to creating products that could help as many people as possible.
